News of the World closure, annotated

Dan Sabbagh, Tom Clark and Sean Clarke are credited with The Guardian's incisive annotations to News International's press release announcing the closure of the nearly 170-year-old British paper, the News of the World. The release largely quoted a statement issued by "James Murdoch, Deputy Chief Operating Officer, News Corporation, and Chairman, News International," who as you probably know is Rupert Murdoch's son. A sample:
Having consulted senior colleagues, I have decided that we must take further decisive action with regard to the paper.

Annotation: Doesn't this mean, "Dad says ... "?
As the annotations explain, James Murdoch's statement, rather surprisingly, does not completely take News International off the hook for possible further public-relations or even criminal consequences down the line. However, as one annotation puckishly notes, "no NI staff who are not called Murdoch will want to rely on any help from the top as the wheels of justice turn."
